Common Questions

Honest answers to the questions we hear most often.

What does “pooled support hours” actually mean?
Pooled means the support hours belong to your whole team, not each individual. If you have 10 users, you get 5 pooled hours per month (30 min per user). Most businesses find this rarely runs out. Typical IT issues are quick to resolve remotely. If extra hours are needed, they are billed at our schedule of rates. Protect+ removes the pool entirely with unlimited support, so there are no overages and no tracking.
What if I have fewer than 15 users but want Protect+?
You are welcome to choose Protect+ at any team size. The 15-user threshold is the point at which we require Protect+, not a lower limit. Some smaller businesses choose it from day one because they want unlimited support, cloud backups, and a technology roadmap without usage concerns. We will quote Protect+ for any team.
Is onsite support included?
Remote support (phone and screen share) is included in both packages. Onsite visits (where one of our engineers comes to your site) are available at schedule of rates for all packages. The majority of issues are resolved remotely without the need for a physical visit, and we will always try remote first.
What happens at the end of my contract term?
Your agreement automatically renews for a further 12 months unless you provide 90 days’ written notice before the end of your current term. Pricing is reviewed annually — any increase is capped at the greater of 3.5% or CPI. We will always communicate upcoming renewals and any pricing changes ahead of time.
Does the price include Microsoft 365 licences?
No. Microsoft 365 licensing is quoted separately as a bolt-on. This is intentional: some businesses already have M365 licences, others need us to procure them, and licence types vary widely (Business Basic, Standard, or Premium). We will confirm the right licence type and cost in your tailored quote.
What is Essential Eight alignment, and do I need it?
The ACSC Essential Eight is the Australian Government’s recommended cybersecurity framework for businesses. Protect+ includes alignment with these controls as part of the strategic layer. If you bid for government contracts, work in a regulated industry, or want a defensible security posture for insurance purposes, it matters. For most Protect businesses, our baseline security controls still address the most common threats, but without the formal documentation, reporting, and quarterly review that Protect+ provides.
What is the difference between a standard user and an email-only user?

Standard user: A team member with a managed PC or laptop. They get full device monitoring, security, patching, and remote support as part of their package.

Email-only user: Staff who only need email, calendar, and basic apps on a phone or tablet. No managed PC is required, so the per-user cost is lower. They still get secure access and identity protection, just without a managed device.
